Workforce Retention is a Complex Equation

Wage and salary issues are only one part of a larger picture of workforce retention. Other factors such as recognition, opportunities for learning and development, organization culture, management style and supervisory relationship play an important part in retaining quality team members.

Supervision: First Level and Second Level

Today, most companies target their first level of supervision as the key component to workforce retention. Interestingly, while the first level supervisor is a key component in helping a team move forward, the role of the second level supervisor is also important. When the skills of the first level supervisor appear to be lacking, in most cases team members will temporarily accept the condition as long as their second level supervisor can serve as a sounding board to offer counsel and encouragement. In the absence of a positive role model of a second level supervisor, retention becomes problematic.

Learning Organization -- to what extent does the organization provide opportunities for learning and development in order to assist team members address a dynamic marketplace?

Retention Is a Process
Instead of considering workforce retention as an event, Your New Image considers workforce retention as a process that includes assessment, intervention, and post assessment conducted in the context of continuous improvement. This process helps establish base line data, outlines intervention to include targeted training and development, and reviews changes that may have occurred between pre and post assessment.
Retention Is a Personal Process

The Employee Retention Profile© is administered personally at the employers’ on-site location rather than via Internet. This process underscores Your New Image commitment to personal customer service. After participants complete the Employee Retention Profile ©, the results are explained then placed on a graph to view their results. Time is allocated during the workshop for team members to devise a plan of action to be discussed later with their supervisor.

Retention Is an Organizational Process
Survey results from anonymous team members are included in a team report, which is placed in a corporate report. The corporate report includes the results from all teams. These comprehensive reports are included with our powerful Employee Retention Profile© workshop.
